Sasha Allen, the openly-transgender female transgender singer who made it to the Live Shows of The Voice was a landmark when they got there. It was the first time within the 21 years of Voice competitions that Sasha was able to get past to the Battle Rounds. They are now the two of Newtown, Conn., is taking it a step further into the Top 8! Sasha revealed that he was transgender at the time they announced their auditions at the Blind Auditions. According to Parade.com the decision was not a decision that was made in a hurry. "That was a difficult choice because you're showing a personal and vulnerable aspect of yourself to millions and billions of viewers," said Sasha, whom he transitioned to while at high school. The week before, during fan week, the people's support and their reactions, and how it affected them that it was well-worth the risk. We performed the song prior to The Voice even existed. This was an incredible surprise. We knew the tune and had ideas on how to structure it. Fans truly hit the mark."
